Consciousness is our natural state of being “woke”- aware of oneself and responding to one’s surroundings. As physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual beings, we must seek to have a conscious approach to interpreting, processing, and responding to stimuli. As educators, we must convey the thought that sparks our learners and engages them in intellectual exploration.

Race remains a socially constructed category that defines how we are classified and quantified. With the undeniable existence of racism from a social level, racial stigmatization is deeply embedded in our society.
Liberatory minded leaders, seek to see in totality. The colloquialism “I see you” rings true when leaders perform through an equity lens. They show true regard for students. In French, regarder means to watch, to look, to consider.
